Sara Chazin

Orchestral Work:

Sara has played in leading orchestras in the United States including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra led by conductors such as Edo de Waart, Charles DuToit, and Christoph Eschenbach.  Also in the Midwest region, she has been a member of the Madison Symphony and South Bend Symphony, and has played regularly with the Illinois Philharmonic and Elgin Symphony.  She now performs regularly with the Silicon Valley and Monterey Symphonies.

 Chamber Musician:

Past chamber music experiences include modern and baroque music on WFMT Chicago’s ‘Live from the Studio’ with mezzo-soprano Julia Bentley.  She has played in a performance of Philip Glass's The Hours, and Golijov's Youth Without Youth: Suite at the Chicago Symphony's new music series, MusicNOW. Stravinsky’s A Soldier’s Tale with Chamber Music on the Fox in Elgin, Illinois.  In New York, assistant principal second violin with the New York String Orchestra.  In the Bay Area, she has performed chamber music with San Francisco Academy Orchestra as well as countless Classical Revolution shows, which aims to make classical music more accessible by playing in coffee shops, bars, and restaurants, as well as in other casual settings.

Sara enjoys about learning about the different cultures that make up our world, through their music.  As a former member of the Crossing Borders String Quartet, she explored the music of Haiti, performing the music of Michigan-based Rudy Perrault, Julio Racine, and Werner Jaegerhuber, just to name a few.  She has collaborated with Parisa Sabet, a Iranian Bahai composer, performing her "Geyrani" for solo violin.  Based in Chicago, CBMC (Crossing Borders Music Collective) presents chamber music written by underrepresented composers from Haiti, Uganda, and Iran, among many others.  See http://crossingbordersmusic.org/explore-the-music/bahais-from-iran/parisa-sabet/
